Prince William and Kate Middleton have openings for roles for those with the right qualifications.
The Prince and Princess of Wales are hiring a new private secretary for Wales and the United Kingdom, according to a job listing posted online.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to join the dedicated team at Kensington Palace supporting The Prince and Princess of Wales.” The post has begun.
“The Assistant Private Secretary for Wales and the UK will lead the planning and delivery of most of TRH’s public activities in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland and will contribute to the development of the House of Lords’ strategy to maximise impact across the UK constituent nations, with a particular focus on Wales.”

Knowledge of Welsh culture and language is key, among other job requirements such as excellent communication and organisational skills.
“Working in small, agile teams, you’ll gain a proactive, hands-on approach and a deep understanding of Welsh communities, affairs, government and business,” the description reads.
“Conversational Welsh is essential and fluent in both written and spoken Welsh is desirable.”
Welsh is notoriously difficult to learn and master. Official tourism site, Welsh is the oldest language in the UK, dating back more than 4,000 years. It is spoken by over a quarter of the UK’s population of 3.136 million and can be heard on radio and television programmes across the country, and appears in newspapers and on street signs.

Charles III was first given the title Prince of Wales at the age of nine, and when he officially became the Prince of Wales in 1969, he learned Welsh ahead of the investiture ceremony.
When King Charles ascends to the throne in 2022, Prince William will be named the new Prince of Wales, and Kate will become the Princess of Wales as his wife.
The title, traditionally given to the monarch’s heir apparent, was awarded the day after Queen Elizabeth’s death in 2022.
Like his father, Prince William has been studying languages.

Reverend Stephen Bunting, who hosted the couple on their first visit to Wales since the Queen’s death, told People magazine that Prince William “talked about learning Welsh and shared some Welsh phrases he was going to try.”
The title was officially announced a few months later in February.
A statement in The Gazette, the country’s official record newspaper, said: “In accordance with the directions of His Majesty the King, by Letters Patent dated the 13th of February 2023, the Great Seal creating His Royal Highness Prince William Arthur Philip Louis, Duke of Cornwall and Rothesay and Cambridge, Earl of Carrick and Strathearn, Baron Renfrew, Baron Carrickfergus, KG, KT, Lordship of the Isles, Prince and Archdeacon of Scotland, Prince of Wales and Earl of Chester.”

According to the Royal Collection Trust, Letters Patent are “public documents from the Sovereign which can be used to express his sovereign wishes, for example to grant offices or create new peerages”.
According to a 2022 BBC report, Prince William will not be invested like his father.
