Former President Donald Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance, “is one of us,” said David Urban, a former adviser to former President Donald Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign. Breitbart News Saturday Following the Republican National Convention.
Urban spoke about Vance’s speech, noting that his family and his story resonate with many Americans who have experienced complicated home lives. Hillbilly Elegy.
“My wife and I were watching it last night, and we were saying, every American who sits around expecting their government to hand out handouts and grants and subsidies and free college should watch this movie and realize that with a little bit of effort, greatness is attainable,” he said, explaining that J.D. Vance “embodies that story.”
He said the story will resonate with Americans, especially in his home state of Pennsylvania.
“The message will resonate because he is one of us. … He’s a guy who washed dishes not that long ago,” he said.
“He was someone who, not that long ago, didn’t have much of a choice,” he said.
“Do you think he had any hopes for Joe Biden? [for a] “Did you receive aid to pay for your college tuition?” he asked, highlighting Vance’s contributions to the country, explaining that he achieved the American dream with blood, sweat and tears.

“What we want to talk about is selfless service, sweat, sacrifice and hard work. Nobody gave him anything. He earned everything he has ever had,” he said, predicting that he would do a great job.
“I can’t wait to stand side by side with him and talk to the men and women of Western Pennsylvania,” he said, predicting he’ll be popular. “I’m sure people will line up to meet him and talk to him. He’s going to help us.”
“And the reason this is important, Matt, is because, as you know, we did excellent in 2016. I showed the president a graph one time, and it showed these numbers that he achieved in these counties – that he blew away Bush, Mitt Romney and McCain in voter turnout. Trump’s voter turnout was through the roof in these smaller counties, right?” he said.
“Pennsylvania has 67 counties where we can get 500 to 1,000 more votes. That’s what I’m saying here. If we can get 500 more people, 1,000 more people to vote in each county, we can become president. That’s how we win,” he said, adding, “J.D. Vance is going to help us win.”
