The funeral for Comperatore, a firefighter whose father was shot and killed at a Trump rally on July 13, was held on Friday morning, with friends and family gathering to remember him, while locals lined the streets leading to Comperatore’s church to remember the fallen “hero.”
Comperatore, 50, was shot at approximately 6:11 p.m. that day in Butler, Pennsylvania, during an assassination attempt on the former president.
“My son was a firefighter with Corey for many years and was a great mentor to him. He was a great person,” Sylvia Rowley told Fox News Digital on Friday. “Obviously, we’re all heartbroken. Great family. … I just pray that he rests in peace.”
She also described Comperatore as a “quiet, family-oriented man” and a “good guy.”

Gene Fox, who worked with Comperatore’s wife, Helen, described the volunteer firefighter as a “good father” and especially a good “daughter dad” to their two daughters.

“Above all, Corey was the quintessential family man and the best father,” the obituary read. “His love for his wife, Helen Comperatore, was a testament to the power of partnership and commitment. Together they raised two daughters, Allison and Kaylee Comperatore, who will inherit his caring spirit.”

Residents between Thurber and Cabot, where Comperatore’s funeral was held Friday at Cabot Church, sat in lawn chairs and waved American flags as fire engines, ambulances and motorcycles from dozens of Pennsylvania towns made their way to the funeral site.
Katie Furman, whose uncle is married to Comperatore’s mother, said she knew him from when he was “a little kid.”
“I haven’t seen him in a long time, but I know he was a wonderful man, husband, father and son. From what I’ve heard from his family, he was a fun person. He was a family man. He loved his daughters and his wife dearly. But he had a sense of humor.”
President Trump pays tribute to fallen firefighter in Republican National Convention speech
President Trump paid tribute to the fallen firefighter at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Thursday night, displaying Comperatore’s firefighter jacket and helmet onstage.
“He lost his life selflessly acting as a human shield to protect people from flying bullets… He was a truly remarkable man,” Trump said in his speech. Republican National Convention Speech On Thursday“There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for another.”
“This is Fake America In our darkest hours, it is this love that will once again lead America to the pinnacle of human achievement and greatness.”

Two men, David “Jake” Duch and James Copenhaver, were seriously injured in the assassination attempt on President Trump. They are currently hospitalized in stable condition.
Investigators are continuing to investigate the motive behind the attempted assassination of Comperatore, 20-year-old Thomas Crooks.
