Caitlin Clark reacts to her image on hood of NASCAR’s Josh Berry’s vehicle

Josh Berry will try to lead Stewart-Haas Ford to victory lane on Sunday at the Brickyard 400 in Indianapolis with Caitlin Clark under the hood of his No. 4 car.

The Clark-inspired car has been a hot topic in the NASCAR Cup Series this week, and Clark was asked about it at WNBA All-Star media day on Friday.

“I was like, ‘Oh my God! Is this real?'” the Indiana Fever rookie said. He told WISH-TV“I want to drive the car, so maybe I’ll have to take it for a test drive at some point, but it’ll be really cool. It’ll be a good atmosphere and hopefully I can win it.”

“Honestly, I grew up watching NASCAR. My mom was involved in NASCAR. So I’ve been a big NASCAR fan since I was a kid. It’s super cool.”

Panini, as one of the sponsors, helped get Clark into Berry’s car, and Indianapolis Motor Speedway officials tried to get her on the track for the Indy 500 in May, but the Fever was largely away from Indianapolis by the time the season started.

The next good thing happened.

“Obviously it’s really awesome to start a partnership with Panini. They have a big presence in NASCAR and the sports world,” Berry said. “It’s really cool that they’re using the hood of our race car to draw attention to the Caitlin Clark collection that’s on sale. I think our No. 4 car had a popular week on social media.”

Clark has broken records in college basketball and set new standards in the WNBA, making her one of the most talked-about athletes of the year.

For Berry, a win would be the ultimate honor as he seeks to make the NASCAR playoffs.

Heading into Indianapolis he sits in 21st place, five spots out of the final playoff spot, so a win would mean a lot down the stretch.
