Sen. Joe Manchin (I-West Virginia) said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that former President Donald Trump hasn’t changed his message of greater unity since the assassination attempt.
Anchorman Jake Tapper asked, “Let me ask you a question: What was your reaction to the Republican Convention?”
“Well, I thought they put on a great show over four days, I really did. Everybody was hoping for something different and the last hour of the convention showed that that hasn’t changed,” Manchin said.
She added, “President Trump has fundamentally refused to acknowledge that there was a riot. It is true that they attempted to overthrow the government. He has not accepted an orderly transfer of power and has had multiple recounts. We’ve had recounts in every other election, knowing they were valid. He is still fundamentally attacking the rule of law and our justice system, and giving our allies no hope or confidence that he is there for them. These are concerns that I am very concerned about and I hope others will look at them as well.”
