Staple Pigeon streetwear launches first US store in Soho

Streetwear brand Staple Pigeon will open its first permanent U.S. store at 21 Mercer Street in SoHo. Cushman & Wakefield’s Alan Schmerzler, Katherine Merck and Eric Hazen represented the tenant in the 4,500-square-foot lease.

Richard Skulnick of Lipco represented the landlord, Premier Equities.

Staple Pigeon was founded in 1997 by Jeff Staple.

Schmelzler said the choice of 21 Mercer was “strongly influenced by the novelty of the location, the excellent condition of the store and the heritage of the address,” which was once a Nike store.

Modern luxury jewelry brand Cadar is opening at 875 Washington St. in the Meatpacking District. The 4,000-square-foot lease for Cadar’s first Manhattan boutique was handled by Retail by MONA, which previously brought Breitling and Studded to the restored five-story 1887 building.

MONA represents the landowners, RFR Holdings and Raycliff Capital.

“Cadar is perfectly positioned to attract a fashion-forward customer,” said Brandon Singer, founder and CEO of MONA.
