The British Open has officially come to an end with Xander Schauffele being crowned Golfer of the Year.
But did he make it onto the best or worst dressed list?
Despite the circumstances, many of the athletes wore great outfits, but some were disappointing.
Just like after Friday’s round, we had some fun with the three best-dressed and three worst-dressed players for the British Open.
Remember, golf fashion is subjective. There is no right answer and it all comes down to personal perspective. Some people like the worst outfits and others dislike the best outfit options.
These six were handpicked by me, the Playing Through golf fashion expert.
The rating is for the entire week and not just the highlighted outfit, so keep that in mind, but the outfits featured are my favorites.
Let’s take a look at the three best and worst dressed players at the British Open.
Best Dressed Players at the British Open:
3. Daniel Brown

Daniel Brown was the Cinderella story of the 152nd British Open. His outfit on Friday and his consistency all week kept him on this list.
I still can’t forget his fluffy vest, it had two textures mixed together and was very attractive.
Brown lost points by the final round because he felt bored — still trendy, but still boring.
Rating: 8/10 this week
2. Justin Rose

Justin Rose is number two on the best dressed list. He wore something every day, but seeing him in a burgundy pullover on Sunday kept his place. The only thing I wish was different about his outfit on Sunday was the fabric of the pullover. It looked like a technical fabric, but if it was knit it would have been perfect.
His Nike shoes go with any outfit and I love how they add a trendy touch to a classic style.

1. Billy Horschel

Billy Horschel may have been runner-up on the leaderboard, but he was number one when it came to style. Pairing his cardigan with dark navy pants and a striped polo was a great choice on Sunday. The RLX molded the cardigan to his body perfectly, automatically giving him a premium fit.
I love the striped polo shirt underneath, it adds texture and makes it look more on-trend, and the white shoes and navy hat tie the whole look together.
His raincoat look on Saturday was also quite atmospheric.

Only a select few can pull off the backwards hat style, and Horschel is one of them. Tradition may be the theme this week, but wearing your hat backwards also makes your rain gear look a lot cooler.
I wouldn’t change anything about this week’s British Open script, other than adding some pink and red for a spice. Either way, it was a perfect fashion week for Horschel.

3. Xander Schauffele

Xander Schauffele won the tournament, but he seems to wear the same outfit every week. This all-black outfit isn’t bad, but it might suit him better, and the white stripes on his shoes confuse me.
Nothing particularly interesting happened this week, but Schauffele isn’t a big fan of fashion. I’d love to see him in a light blue or green. Those colors would look great with his skin tone and are a lot nicer than the neutrals he usually wears.
Rating: 5/10
2. Thriston Lawrence

Thriston Lawrence also made a strange choice, though not bad. His Sunday outfit would have been on the best-dressed list if he’d paired it with navy trousers. The purple and grey trousers clashed and the pullover looked faded. The two colours technically matched, but there’s a way to make it better.
The grey PING hat is also just wrong. Lawrence should have worn a navy or black hat instead. The light grey looks bland.

1. Robert McIntyre

After Robert McIntyre outfitted him on Thursday and Friday, I thought the pattern couldn’t get any worse, and it was. His feather pattern was ugly on Saturday. Thankfully, he wore a neutral grey and black outfit on Friday, because it looked better than the first three days combined.
I don’t understand why Nike put him in that polo, but they shouldn’t have. No one should. McIntyre is young and his style should reflect that. Nike, put him in something else. This kid has two PGA Tour wins and deserves a better script.
