On Tuesday, July 23rd and Wednesday, July 24th, the Mets will leave Flushing and head to the Bronx for two big Subway Series games against their city rivals, the New York Yankees.
The two post-All-Star games come at key times in the season for both teams.
Aaron Boone’s Yankees are trailing the in-form Baltimore Orioles in the AL East and need a win or two, while the Mets’ Carlos Mendoza-led Amazings are desperately trying to hang on in the National League Wild Card race.
Adding fuel to the fire, Mets ace (and former Yankee) Luis Severino recently offered a scathing critique of the Bronx Bombers in a group chat with his former teammates, joking that “they’re not scary…they only have two good hitters right now.”
The stakes are there, the rivalries are alive and well, all that’s missing are the fans.
And if you want to hop on No. 4, 5 or 6 to watch Judge and Soto vs. Alonso and Lindor, last-minute tickets are still available.
