Michael Moore: Biden resignation would help Harris beat Trump

Film director and activist Michael Moore argued Monday that it would be in the best interest of Vice President Harris’ campaign if President Biden steps down and leaves her in charge of the Oval Office.

Biden ended his reelection campaign on Sunday, with many Democrats quickly solidifying their support for Harris as the party’s front-runner for the presidential nomination.

“If Kamala Harris could run for president of the United States, she would have a much better chance of winning as the sitting president,” Moore said. I have written“This will be her opportunity to show the American people how she operates as the most powerful person in the world. She will have three and a half months (an eternity in politics) to show the American people her smarts, her strength and her heart.”

Republicans in Congress have in recent days stuck to their demands that Biden resign, arguing he cannot lead the country unless he is strong enough to run for reelection. Biden himself has vowed to serve out his term.

Moore also urged Harris to put her home state of Michigan first in her campaign, primarily by nominating Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer (Democrat) as her running mate.

But Gov. Whitmer said Monday she’s not interested in the job.

“Voting rates among liberals and Democrats are declining dramatically. Millions are in despair. Many have given up,” Moore wrote. “Youth turnout is declining because of the Gaza war. Arab-American turnout is virtually zero.”

Despite the grim outlook, Moore said he remains hopeful about Harris’ campaign.

“Trump can win. He can super win!! And he knows it,” he wrote. “Trump will lose because we are the majority. America hates what he stands for.”

“In 2020, the American people, having witnessed and experienced the disaster of his presidency, ousted and removed him from office by more than 7 million votes,” he continued. “His actions over the past four years have not fallen short of changing the minds of millions of voters.”
