Harris Has Lower Favorability Rating than Biden

Vice President Kamala Harris has a lower favorability rating than President Joe Biden, a RealClearPolitics poll found Monday.

Harris’ Favorability rating Harris’ approval rating is one percentage point lower than Biden’s, raising concerns that she may not be the best alternative to Biden to take the lead on the Democratic field.

  • Harris’ average favorability rating: 38.1%

Harris is not very popular among voters: She has an approval rating of 38.6 percent, according to FiveThirtyEight, compared with Biden’s 38.5 percent.

Both Democratic candidates’ approval ratings are well below the 50 percent threshold historically needed for an incumbent to win reelection.

A poll released July 9 by Fernand Amandi, a former pollster for President Barack Obama, appears to show Harris as a political favorite. Amandi’s poll, conducted by Bendixen & Amandi, found Harris leading former President Donald Trump by one point, 42 to 41 percent.

President Obama appears to have played a major role behind the scenes in Biden’s decision to step down: Until Wednesday, President Obama had not questioned the legitimacy of Biden’s candidacy. The Washington Post The leak came after reports surfaced just hours before former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) called on the president to resign.

The timing of the leak suggests Democratic leaders are moving systematically to convince Biden to drop out after weeks of internal party turmoil amid continued media scrutiny of Biden’s political viability. “The thinking here is that Obama, Pelosi, Jeffries and Schumer don’t want to be seen as behind-the-scenes party bosses orchestrating Harris’ coronation,” Playbook reported. “And they want to reunite the party when a real challenger is named.”

The Democratic Party appears to be uniting around Harris, including Hillary, Bill Clinton and “The Squad.” The only key members of the Democratic Party who have not publicly endorsed Harris are Obama, Pelosi, Jeffries and Schumer.
