PGA Tour winner and broadcaster Mark Carnevale dies ‘unexpectedly’ at 64

Mark Carnevale, former PGA TOUR The golfer and longtime announcer died “suddenly” on Monday, more than a week after covering the Genesis Scottish Open, the tour confirmed. He was 64 years old.

“Mark was a long-time and beloved member of the Tour family,” PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan said in a statement.

“He is a member of an elite club. PGA Tour winners, “He subsequently served in numerous positions within the golf industry, most recently in a key role in PGA TOUR Radio coverage. Mark knew golf inside and out and did an outstanding job of conveying his insights to fans at countless TOUR events over the years, from his unique perspective and with his engaging wit and sense of humor. We will miss Mark and our condolences to his loved ones.”

Carnevale’s lone win on the PGA Tour came at the 1992 Chattanooga Classic, but he was best known for his broadcasting career, covering the tour for SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio in 2005.

“Mark Carnevale has been an integral part of the live coverage on our streaming platforms and on PGA TOUR Radio,” Greg Hopfe, senior vice president and executive producer, PGA TOUR Entertainment, said in a statement.

Carnevale played golf James Madison He then turned professional in 1983. His first and only win on tour came at Council Fire Golf Club in Tennessee, where he shot a final round 64 to win, a victory that earned him the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year award.

The shocking news of Carnevale’s death came more than a week after he played his final tournament, the Scottish Open. He was due to play in the 3M Open in Minnesota this week.
