Florida is the third most populous state in the United States, after California with 39.5 million and Texas with 30.5 million.

Estimates show that Florida attracted about 359,000 new residents last year, and that over the past decade the state has seen between 350,000 and 375,000 new residents move to the state each year.

Estimates suggest Florida’s growth rate will reach a projected 1.6% this year before falling below 1% by the early 2030s as the last of the baby boomer generations retire.

About 10% of Florida residents are 75 or older, the second highest among U.S. states and territories after Puerto Rico.
