It was as dramatic as a whale.
A new radio call has revealed the shocking aftermath of the moment an “enraged” humpback whale capsized a small fishing boat.
“Mayday… boat capsized, two passengers on another boat are safe.” One phone call to the U.S. Coast Guard He said Tuesday morning.
“The boat was hit by a whale and capsized… now the boat is upside down and sinking,” another added.
The heart-stopping footage showed the sea monster leaping out of the water just behind the 23-foot-long boat, which was anchored half a mile off the coast of Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
The young whale’s head struck the boat, capsizing it and throwing two passengers into the waves.
The fishermen, who were not wearing life jackets, were uninjured and were helped to safety by a nearby boat.
A radio call from the Coast Guard said the incident happened at around 7:45 a.m. local time, and urged nearby ships to be aware of the situation.
“An angry whale is patrolling the waters off Portsmouth, NH today. If you’re out there, turn your head to take a look,” former NHL player Ryan Whitney wrote in an X post next to the video.
However, experts said the incident was merely a coincidence and had nothing to do with the whale’s behavior.
“It was an accident,” Diana Schulte, co-founder and research director of the Blue Ocean Marine Conservation Society, told The Post on Tuesday.
“The whales emerge from the school of fish with their mouths wide open and then close their mouths either just before or after they break the water,” she explained, adding that they “should have known better” about fishing large whales in the area.
She advised boaters to give humpback whales 100 yards of personal space while eating.
This young whale is the first to ever dine in the shallow waters of the Piscataqua River.
Schulte said they may have been drawn to the area because of the abundance of Atlantic menhaden, a favorite food of whales, dolphins and sharks.
