Jerry Jones speaks on ‘sensitive’ paternity trial after surprising end

Jerry Jones spoke to reporters Thursday for the first time since his paternity lawsuit with 27-year-old Alexandra Davis ended in a shocking settlement on Tuesday.

“The issue has been resolved. It’s unfortunate,” Jones said. According to the Star-Telegram“It was a delicate issue for me and my family… It’s been resolved. I’m certainly where I wanted to be.”

Terms of the settlement were not made public, and Jones appeared to decline to comment further about the abrupt end to the high-profile lawsuit.

Jones settled with Alexandra’s mother, Cynthia, in 1998, and court records show Alexandra received $3 million through a trust during her childhood.

The Cowboys owner also spoke to fans about team construction, saying he’s “all in” this year.

“I know I’ve made a lot of mistakes over the last few years,” Jones said, “but the same guys who are leading the Cowboys made this decision and got there really close, and it was a miracle that I was able to do it. It’s a miracle. But it was the same imagination, the same risk-taking, the same risk-taking, the same risk-taking but realistic, inconsistent and sometimes…[s] You look like a Mississippi River boat gambler, someday[s] “It’s like we’re trying to protect the National Mall. These contradictions are what got us here. That’s what you’re seeing right now. I don’t know if it’s going to work, but I’m trying my best.”
