3 Reasons ‘Twisters’ Is the Must-See Family Blockbuster of the Summer

Kate is an optimistic, energetic young woman with a love of meteorology, a passion for tracking tornadoes, and a strong desire to save the towns in the path of tornadoes. She also has a scientific plan for how to achieve her goal: by using barrels filled with “superabsorbent polymers,” her theory is that tornadoes will lose water and die out before they can get any bigger.

The problem is, these barrels need to be deployed very close to the tornado — within a quarter mile — to hit their target.

It’s definitely risky, but the potential rewards could be great.

Unfortunately, tragedy strikes during the experiment, and three of her friends are swept away by a tornado as Kate watches helplessly, plunging her into a period of deep regret and depression.

Five years later, Kate works for the National Weather Service in New York City, forecasting dangerous weather and protecting people from the tornadoes that took the lives of her friends.

While Kate is working there, her old friend Javi approaches her for help. He is part of a team of scientists with cutting edge technology designed to learn more about tornadoes, which also requires them to go into the field to avoid them.

But he needs Kate’s help – after all, she’s the best in the business at predicting where tornadoes will strike.

“I won’t chase you anymore,” she told him.

“You have talent,” he replied.

If the experiment is successful, it could save lives, Javi explains.

But can Kate overcome the traumatic memories of her past?

These are all part of the new movie Twister (PG-13) stars Daisy Edgar-Jones as Kate and Anthony Ramos as Javi.

Here are three reasons why families will enjoy this summer’s blockbuster movies.
