Team USA Wins First Gold Medal Of Paris Summer Olympics At Men’s 4×100 Meter Freestyle Relay

The United States won its first gold medal at the Paris Olympics in the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay.

The foursome of Hunter Armstrong, Caleb Dressel, Chris Juliano and Jack Alexie won by 1.07 seconds, beating Australia’s silver medal-winning team and Italy’s bronze medal-winning team.

In this division, the U.S. team has won gold medals in 10 of the last 13 Olympic Games.

Dressel won eight Olympic gold medals.

In the 3-meter synchronized diving event on Saturday, Sarah Bacon, 27, and Cassidy Cook, 29, won silver, giving the United States its first medal in Paris.

The American pair earned 314.64 points, good for second place behind China’s Zhang Yani and Chen Yiwen.
