Sunday is one week later President Biden’s President Donald Trump has made a politically transformative announcement on Tuesday, endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor as the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee, calling off his reelection campaign against former President Donald Trump.
And early Sunday morning, Harris’ campaign revealed that the vice president had raised a staggering $200 million, just under a week after Biden dropped out.
The campaign said in a statement that two-thirds of the money came from first-time donors, “further evidence of the tremendous grassroots support for the Vice President,” and touted the donation as a “record-breaking donation.”

Biden’s move over the weekend came amid growing pressure from within his Democratic Party to step down following his disastrous performance in the first presidential debate with President Trump last month.
The embattled president Vice President Kamala Harris Ms. Harris’ speech last Sunday sparked a flurry of support for the vice president from Democratic governors, senators, representatives and other party leaders. Within 36 hours, Ms. Harris announced that she had secured the party’s nomination, having won the verbal endorsement of a majority of the roughly 4,000 delegates to next month’s Democratic National Convention.

Former President Obama And former first lady Michelle Obama on Friday became the last major party leader to endorse the vice president.
The Harris campaign has touted a surge in fundraising over the past week, including money raised by the campaign, the Democratic National Committee and joint fundraising committees.
On Monday, the Harris campaign highlighted how it had raised $81 million within 24 hours of Biden’s announcement.
2024 showdown: Trump rushes to define Harris
The one-day fundraising easily eclipsed former President Trump’s campaign coffers of roughly $53 million, and the Republican National Committee released the amount it raised through its online digital fundraising platform in the first 24 hours after Trump was convicted of 34 felony counts in a criminal trial in New York City nearly two months ago.

The Biden campaign and the DNC had led Trump and the RNC in fundraising this year, but in the second quarter of 2024, from April to June, Trump and the RNC outraised Biden and the DNC, $331 million to $264 million.

The Trump campaign told Fox News that it “continues to raise funds actively” and has “demonstrated a satisfactory level of fundraising.”
The Trump campaign has stressed that its fundraising efforts are “doing what needs to be done.”
