First Lady Jill Biden praised the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, which took place this weekend, despite widespread criticism that the performance made a mockery of “The Last Supper.”
Biden led the US delegation to the Olympics and described the opening ceremony as a “spectacular sight.” Despite the celebratory mood, torrential rain drenched athletes as they boarded boats to navigate the River Siene.
Biden said that when Los Angeles hosts the Olympics in 2028, the United States will have to strive to outdo Paris’ opening ceremony.
“Last night was absolutely amazing,” Biden said in a statement. “Not even the rain dampened our morale. With every step, I was thinking in my mind, ‘Oh my God, Oh my God.’ How can we top this?”

“So, it’s OK. Paris has the Eiffel Tower, but we have Hollywood and the magic of Hollywood that makes all our dreams come true. I think we’ll be OK. This is a city where a new generation of dreamers is shaping our culture,” she added.

“At the end of the 2028 Olympics, Olympians and fans will see their images reflected in Los Angeles,” Biden said.

Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini posted a picture of drag queens over a photo of the Last Supper and criticised the behaviour.
“It’s a really bad start, dear French people, to open the Olympics with an insult to billions of Christians around the world,” he wrote. “Vulgar.”
