Judoka Shouts ‘Allahu Akhbar’ and Refuses to Shake Israeli Athlete’s Hand, Then Gets Humbled

A Tajikistani judoka refused to shake hands with his opponent at the 2024 Paris Olympics after his victory over an Israeli athlete on Sunday.

But karma struck Tajiki in the next match.

Israeli judoka Baruk Shmailov won his first match by walkover against Moroccan judoka Abderrahmane Bouchita, but after the match Bouchita refused to shake Shmailov’s hand.

Shumailov’s next opponent was Nurali Emomali of Tajikistan, who defeated him in just over a minute, refusing to shake hands with Shumailov, just as he had done with Boushta before him.

Social media users also claimed that Emomali shouted “Allah is great” after his victory.

The loss ended Shumailov’s Olympic appearance, but Emomali went on to face Japan’s Hifumi Abe. The once-proud Emomali was humiliated by Abe and dislocated his shoulder while trying to protect himself from a fall. To add insult to injury, Emomali lay on the mat in tears after the injury.

X-users were not sympathetic to Emomali’s plight.

Abe won the gold medal for Japan in the next match.
