She was active as a drag queen. Paris Olympics The message was sent to critics amid the uproar over the opening ceremony, which was seen to mock the Last Supper.
Nicky Doll is Drag Queen In addition to carrying the Olympic torch, Dole was also a performer during part of the ceremony. Dole reposted the image on her own Instagram Story, claiming that it depicted the Feast of Dionysius, not the Last Supper.
“The Opening Ceremony certainly made waves, but I loved it,” Dole wrote on her Instagram Story on Monday morning. “Do you know why? Because the Olympics is the biggest stage in the world and we queer people have always been spectators to the lives and accomplishments of others, and now is our time to be welcomed into that space.”
Dorr said Sunday he was honored to perform at the opening ceremony.
“It was an incredible honor for me to perform in front of billions of people around the world and celebrate our Olympians,” Doll’s post continued.
“And to those outraged by on-screen homosexuality, I want to remind you: we’re not going anywhere.”
Parts of the ceremony resembled a depiction of Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting “The Last Supper,” and the performance ensemble included drag queens, transgender models and a nude singer stylized to resemble the Greek god Dionysus.
Anne Decquin, a spokeswoman for Paris 2024, spoke about the matter on Sunday.
“Obviously there was no intention to show disrespect towards any religious group. (The ceremony) was meant to celebrate the tolerance of the community,” Deccan told reporters. Via Reuters.
“We believe this ambition has been achieved and we sincerely apologise if anyone was offended.”
Another French LGBT leader suggested the ceremony didn’t go far enough.
“We know that the LGBTQ community in France is far from what was shown at the ceremony. Society still has a lot of progress to make regarding transgender people. It is terrible that people have to go to court to legally change their identity,” said InterLGBT president James Lepellier.
“If you watched the opening ceremony last night you would think that this was the normal thing to do, but it wasn’t. France was trying to show how it should be, not how it is.”
