Police Seek Multiple People in Connection with Rochester Shooting

Police are searching for multiple people in connection with a shooting that happened in Maple Park, Rochester, New York, at approximately 6:20 p.m. on Sunday.

One man in his 20s was killed and six others were injured in the incident. USA Today report.

Rochester Police Lt. Greg Bello said police don’t know what prompted the shooting or how many people fired their guns, stating only that the gunfire was a sign of a time when “everyone was having a barbecue and having a good time.”

January 5, 2024, Everytown for Gun Safety, affiliated with Mike Bloomberg Ranking New York ranks second in the U.S. when it comes to gun control, describing the state as a “national leader in strong gun control laws.”

New York’s gun laws include a variety of restrictions, including red flag laws, a ban on “assault weapons,” a ban on “high-capacity” magazines, universal background checks, mandatory microstamping of new pistols, a pollution liability law (allowing for lawsuits against firearms manufacturers), and numerous restrictions on where licensed, law-abiding citizens can arm themselves for self-defense.
