Royce Lewis return spells bad news

The Mets have been one of the best offensive teams in MLB over the past few months, but I think they should slow down a bit after hitting just above average over the past week at .233/.300/.442.

In contrast, the Twins are riding high at the right time.

With rookie Brooks Lee joining the major league team and veteran Royce Lewis back in the lineup, Minnesota has one of the most dangerous and dynamic offensive forces in baseball.

Byron Buxton and Jose Miranda are close to unstoppable.

Either way, the Twins will be an easier opponent than the Mets.

Jose Quintana, the Amazing’s starting pitcher on Monday, is my regular fade candidate due to his serious home run issues.

He has allowed 18 home runs in 107 innings this year, including five in his last 10 innings pitched, which is the main reason for his 4.02 ERA and projected ERA of 5.21.

By contrast, Simeon Woods Richardson, Minnesota’s starter on Monday, has been a relatively steady force in the Twins rotation, holding his team to a sub-four ERA (3.27 ERA, 3.77 expected ERA, 3.56 FIP) in 88 innings.

Can Jose Quintana keep the ball inside the yards? Charles Wenzelberg/New York Post

The Twins won 12 of his 17 starts.

The Twins also have an excellent relief pitching staff (2.8 relief pitcher fWAR, 8th in MLB) and defense (Defensive Runs Saved+, 33, 9th in MLB).

They are an all-around good team with great potential in the competitive American League.

Do you bet on baseball?

On Monday, I’ll bet on Minnesota using their talent to take on Quintana and the Mets.
