Young Texas mother accused of throwing newborn baby boy in trash shortly after giving birth, Click2Houston report Saturday.
Everilda Cooks Azizalaam, 18, was arrested on July 23 and charged with abandoning a child with no intention of returning, the report said, citing court documents. Police said: Kax Azitzalam was working at a food truck on Dashwood Drive in Houston when she gave birth on the ground behind it.
“Court documents state that after giving birth, the girl tied the baby, placenta and umbilical cord into a garbage bag and threw it in a nearby trash can, abandoning the baby,” according to the report.
According to records, a passerby heard the baby’s cries coming from the trash can and called 911 for help. Paramedics took the baby to the hospital. The baby’s condition was unknown at the time the report was released.
When officers found the mother, she told police she had no choice but to throw the baby in a trash can because she didn’t want her boyfriend to end the relationship, according to the report.
Investigators said the entire incident was captured on surveillance cameras.
“Kux Azitzalam has no ties to the country and is said to be a flight risk. She is currently in jail on $90,000 bail,” the report said.
Her next court date was set for Monday.
