Roy Cooper withdraws from consideration to be Kamala Harris’ running mate

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper has dropped out of the running to be Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate this election season. According to the New York Times:.

The Times reported Monday evening that Cooper informed Harris’ team of his decision to withdraw. It was unclear why.

Cooper has been seen in recent days as a leading candidate to be Harris’ running mate.

Mitch Kokai, a senior political analyst at the John Locke Foundation, told Fox News Digital on Monday that the North Carolina governor is considered a “good fit” for Harris.

“Democrats appear to view Roy Cooper as the right candidate to compete with Kamala Harris for a number of reasons. First, Cooper could help leverage North Carolina’s 16 electoral votes in a way that no other candidate could,” Kokai explained.
