“There are always challenges, and rebuilding those relationships is something I’ve been trying to do even before the announcement,” Davis said in a phone interview with The Hill.
“I’ve sat down with members of House Republican leadership and told them that they have friends, allies and former colleagues, as well as people who were involved in crafting the Trump tax cuts that now need to be reauthorized,” Davis said. “As we head into 2025, taxes are going to be an issue that we need to work closely on.”
Davis also said he has a “very good” relationship with House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (R-Mo.), who is investigating donations the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation received from the left-leaning nonprofit Tides Foundation.
