Three 9/11 masterminds enter into plea deal

The Pentagon announced Wednesday that prosecutors have agreed to plea deals with the three ringleaders of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks who are awaiting trial in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

According to the Defense Department, Susan Eskarie, the military commission’s convening authority, entered into pre-trial agreements with defendants Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Walid Mohammed Saleh Mubarak bin Attash and Mustafa Ahmed Adam Al Hawsawi.

Terms of the plea agreement were not disclosed.

The three, along with Ali Abdul Aziz Ali and Ramzi bin Al Shib, were initially indicted and arraigned jointly on 5 June 2008, and then jointly indicted and arraigned a second time on 5 May 2012 for their alleged roles in the attack.
