Facebook parent Meta reports better-than-expected second-quarter results, shares rise in after-hours trading

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Meta Platforms Inc., the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, reported better-than-expected second-quarter results on Wednesday, sending its shares soaring in after-hours trading. The Menlo Park, California-based company earned $13.47 billion, or $5.16 a share, in the second quarter.
