Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign is scheduled to hold its first rally with the running mate on Tuesday, August 6.Number In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The location of the rally has led to rumors that Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro (Democrat, PA) may be selected as the running mate, as his popularity as governor would be a key weapon in winning the battleground state of Pennsylvania.
Shapiro also endorsed Harris in his Monday speech, asserting that “she’s not just ready, she’s totally ready. You know who else she knows she’s ready for? Donald Trump.”
It’s unclear whether the location of her first meeting with the new vice president will shed light on the selection, but an anonymous aide to Harris contacted reporters and “warned us not to read too much into the first cities chosen for the tour.”
Harris is seeking to build momentum in battleground states, and will begin a tour of key states including Pennsylvania, Michigan and Arizona with her soon-to-be-announced running mate.
Harris is expected to announce her running mate ahead of Tuesday’s event, which also features candidates including Shapiro, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear (D-Ky.), Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.), Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

Eric Holder Jr., a former U.S. attorney general under President Barack Obama, is overseeing Harris’ vetting process through his law firm, Covington & Burling.
Holder also led the vetting process for Obama’s vice presidential nominee in 2008, so he brings a great deal of experience to this important job.
