An 18-year-old mother from Houston, Texas, who was accused of throwing her newborn baby in a trash can after giving birth, is in the United States illegally, authorities have confirmed.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Said The Tampa Free Press Everilda Cooks Azitzalam is an undocumented immigrant who entered the United States as an unaccompanied minor.
The police Cax Azitzalamb gave birth inside the food truck she worked in on Dashwood Drive. After giving birth, she allegedly placed the baby, placenta and umbilical cord in a garbage bag and disposed of it in a nearby dumpster before returning to clean the truck.
According to local media reports, a passerby heard the baby’s crying coming from the trash can and called 911 for help. Paramedics rushed the baby to hospital. Investigators said the entire incident was captured on surveillance cameras.
The video reportedly shows the moment the baby, now called Gabriel, was rescued. according to The outlet reported that Gabriel is in good health and is currently in the custody of Child Protective Services.
Police officers Kukus Azitzalamshe allegedly told them she had no choice but to throw the baby in the trash because she didn’t want her boyfriend to end the relationship, Click2Houston report.
Kuks Azitzalam was arrested on July 23 and is facing one count of child abandonment. She appeared in court last Friday and was given a $200,000 bond.
