Anthony Edwards blasts French fans for Joel Embiid boos at Paris Olympics

Joel Embiid waved his arms Wednesday inciting boos from French fans inside Pierre Mauroy Stadium, showing he wasn’t bothered.

The 30-year-old, born in Cameroon, raised in Florida and holding U.S. and French passports, has been demonized by locals during the Olympics because he rejected France to play for the United States.

Through all of this, Embiid has received a lot of support from his teammates.

U.S. team star Anthony Edwards expressed confusion to reporters on Thursday about the constant booing of Embiid by French fans during the Paris Olympics.

Edwards, aware of Embiid’s history here, said the team needs more help in the backcourt than the frontcourt.

Embiid is part of an American frontcourt that includes Anthony Davis and Bam Adebayo, both of whom are under 7 feet tall.
