Soufian Rahimi, Morocco’s top scorer at the tournament, opened the scoring with a penalty kick in the 29th minute after U.S. defender Nathan Harriel was called for a foul, his fifth goal at the Paris Olympics.

The Americans stifled Moroccan attacks in the first half but dominated the second half when both teams took to the Parc des Princes pitch.
Ilias Akomak, Achraf Hakimi and Mehdi Mouhoub scored for Morocco, ending a historic medal chance for the U.S. men’s national team.

U.S. women’s soccer team wins three straight games to win group at the Olympics
The men’s team, playing in their first Olympics since 2008, was hoping to repeat their strong showing in Sydney in 2000, when they reached the semifinals. The U.S. men’s national team has never won an Olympic medal in the modern Olympic era.
In contrast, the women’s team is off to a strong start.

They have won all three of their group matches and are scheduled to face Japan on Saturday at the Parc des Princes in Paris.

The U.S. women’s national team has reached the final tournament in each of its eight Olympic Games, with its worst performance being a quarterfinal loss to Sweden in 2016, but has won medals in each of those tournaments, including four gold medals.
