South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott married his fiancée, Mindy North, in South Carolina on Saturday.
According to local newspapers, Scott, 58, and North, 47, were married in the chapel at Seacoast Church in Charleston. The Post and Courier. The Republican senator announced the marriage in a post on his X account just before 9pm on Saturday.
“Tonight we vowed to cherish and nurture each other and our marriage for the rest of our lives,” Scott wrote. “Mindy, you make me the happiest man in the world. I love you.”
The senator then quoted from the Bible, Matthew 19:6, which says, “So then they are no longer 2, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.”

The event was attended by figures from across the political spectrum, including former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, Senator John Thune (civil rights activist), Senator Lindsey Graham (civil rights activist), and Congressman Mark Walker (civil rights activist).

“Congratulations to @SenatorTimScott and Mindy on their beautiful wedding in Charleston,” Walker wrote to X. “I love this man and have seen how his heart for God is set in difficult situations.”
Former President Trump took to his social media platforms to congratulate Scott and North.

“Congratulations to my longtime friend Senator Tim Scott and his beautiful bride Mindy North who were married today in the great state of South Carolina,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “You have a wonderful future ahead of you. God bless you both!”

North, an interior designer from South Carolina who grew up in a military family – her father was in the Navy and her brother attended military school – and she and Scott got engaged earlier this year after friends from church set them up on a pickleball date.
