Katie Ledecky ‘dreading’ post-Paris Olympics break after latest dominance in pool

Katie Ledecky doesn’t seem like the type to take long vacations.

Ledecky, who was in training at the Paris Olympics last week, has won four medals at the Summer Olympics: gold in the 800-meter freestyle and 1,500-meter freestyle, silver in the 4×200-meter freestyle and bronze in the 400-meter freestyle.

“I was kind of dreading this holiday,” she said Sunday. Yahoo Sports.

“I don’t know how long it will take, but I expect we’ll be back in the pool soon.”

Ledecky’s focus will now shift to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where she’ll have a chance to win the 800m freestyle for a fifth consecutive time.

“It’s not going to be easy,” she said of getting back into Olympic shape and making the national team again. “I’m just going to take it one year at a time and see if I can keep giving it my all as long as it’s left in me.”

Ledecky is now the most decorated U.S. Olympic women’s swimmer in history.

She has won nine gold medals and 14 medals total, surpassing the record held by Dara Torres, Jenny Thompson and Natalie Coughlin, who all won 12 medals as Olympians.

Her nine gold medals are the most of any female Olympic swimmer, followed by Australia’s Emma McKeown with 14 medals in total.
