Observations from Tuesday’s Giants training camp practice..
catch up
Allen Robinson and Gunner Olszewski, two veterans vying for a position at the back end of a young receiver corps, were revitalized during joint practice sessions.
On Tuesday, Robinson caught a floater pass in the back of the end zone and Olszewski scored a touchdown on a catch-and-run pass before yelling at the “gray-haired” Lions coach on the sideline. Quarterback Drew Lock completed both passes.
Garbage dump
Quarterback Daniel Jones was “sacked” twice, maybe three times, during the first two 11-on-11 periods. The first time was when Jones tried to throw the ball to Devin Singletary, but the ball was slammed into the air and should have been intercepted by the Lions defensive line.
The Giants’ offensive tackle corps has been excellent so far, but the interior line remains a mess.
It caught my eye
The versatile Nick McCloud took the starting outside cornerback spot from Cordale Flott for the first time in camp after Flott was caught in two coverage errors on Monday. McCloud will play outside cornerback, nickelback, safety and money backer on the first and second defensive lines.
Flott vs. McLeod is a position battle worth keeping an eye on.

Injury Report

C John-Michael Schmitz (shoulder) missed his eighth consecutive practice. TE Chris Manhertz participated in practice after leaving early on Monday.
