Democratic vice presidential nominee, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D), said in 2018 that he was strongly pro-abortion, and even former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) suggested he soften his stance.

“Because my record is pro-life, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi asked me if I should soften my anti-abortion stance,” he said. “I support Planned Parenthood.”

Pro-life groups have warned that a pairing of Walz and Kamala Harris would be “the most pro-abortion Democratic duo ever,” given Harris’ own extreme pro-abortion record.
In January 2023, Governor Walz made Minnesota the first state in the nation to legalize abortion through legislative action following a Supreme Court decision. Flipped Roe v. Wade It sent the issue of abortion back to the states and their elected officials, Breitbart News reported at the time. HF1 1.5 or the Protect Reproductive Options (PRO) Act, was enacted to establish a “right” in state law to access reproductive health care options, including abortion, contraception, assisted family planning, and sterilization.
Second-term abortions were already legal in Minnesota. The bill’s author, Sen. Jennifer McEuen (D-Minn.), said the bill would ensure access to abortion regardless of future court decisions. Senate Minority Leader Mark Johnson lamented At the time, the bill was described as “the most radical bill in the nation regarding the sterilization of adolescents, late-term abortion, and the feasibility of far-reaching new reproductive rights,” and it passed.
At the time, Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life (MCCL) Blown up They criticized the law as “extreme, inhumane and harmful to women and children who deserve better.”
“We are thrilled to partner with MCCL to bring this award-winning technology to the community,” said MCCL Co-Executive Director Cathy Blaser.
The PRO Act would mean the right to abort any baby, for any reason, at any time before birth. In other words, the selective killing of human beings is Intrauterine Abortion is perfectly legal even in the later stages of pregnancy, when the child would be in excruciating pain and could potentially live outside the womb, meaning parents have no right to know when their teenage daughters are taken away to have an abortion.
“Governor Walz’s categorical abortion policy puts Minnesota in the same position as a handful of countries around the world, including North Korea and China. It is extreme, inhumane and harmful to women and children who deserve better,” Blaser continued.

Pro-life groups also noted that lawmakers “rejected dozens of amendments that would have made the bill less extreme,” including protecting late-term fetuses (with exceptions), banning partial-birth abortions, and providing anesthesia options if the fetus can sense pain. Another proposed amendment would have required late-term abortions to be performed in a hospital and required abortion facilities to be licensed by the state.
“This law doesn’t just allow late-term abortions for medical emergencies or difficult cases,” Blaser said, “it allows late-term abortions for any reason and openly invites notorious late-term abortion providers to come and open clinics in Minnesota. Here in Minnesota, you don’t have to be a physician or have a licensed facility to perform abortions. The lack of guardrails to protect women and children is egregious.”
Waltz then Signed Additional bills were passed that would expand taxpayer-funded abortion, strip states of informed consent protections, and significantly weaken protections for babies born alive after botched abortions.
Sadly, today Governor Tim Walz signed the Protecting Reproductive Options Act (PRO Act) into state law…

Today I accidentally voted for HR 4712. It was an honest mistake. I intended to vote no, just like I did for this exact same bill in the last Congress. I apologize for any confusion. I will continue to fight for women’s access to health care. #Patients come before politics
