American gymnastics star Steven Nedorosik, better known as “Pommel Horse Man,” is no stranger to the memes that have circulated around him on the internet.
If that wasn’t the case, gold medalist Simone Biles would surely have proved it.
In an interview with Teen VogueNedorosik said Biles would make sure to stop by to show her memes she’d come across.
“It’s so surreal. I don’t think a month ago she even knew my name,” Nedorosic said of the experience, describing Biles as an “icon” and the “GOAT.”
Nedorosic rose to stardom after his stunning performance on the pommel horse in the men’s gymnastics team final helped the team win the bronze medal.
It was the first time the United States had won a medal in the event since 2008.
During the team final, a meme went viral of Nedorosic with his eyes closed as he prepared to compete.

Nedorosic also won bronze again in the pommel horse final on Saturday.
He returned to the United States on Tuesday, training and receiving a hero’s welcome from fans upon arriving at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport in Florida, the state he now calls home.

Fans cheered and Nedorosic high-fived them as he walked through the gate and into the terminal.
“can’t believe it,” Nedorosik told Fox 13.“The amount of outreach I get — the number of people who contact me saying they want to watch men’s gymnastics — you’re helping to grow the fan base. [for] “Men’s gymnastics is growing as a men’s sport. Honestly, what I really want to hear is that the sport is growing in our country. Men’s gymnastics is not necessarily the most popular sport. I’m happy to be a part of that.”
