A Long Island school principal was arrested last month after he allegedly harassed his ex-girlfriend outside her Manhattan home and threatened to “fuck” her new boyfriend, prosecutors said.
According to a criminal complaint, Shannon Burton, principal at Milton L. Olive Middle School in Wyandanch, allegedly called her ex-boyfriend on July 25 and said in an angry tone, “I’m going to beat up your boyfriend. Just wait until I get him. How can you do this to me? You’re beating up the hell out of this guy.”
According to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, after ominously tracking down her address, Burton called his ex-wife 15 times over the course of several hours and rang her doorbell multiple times.
The former couple split up at the end of 2023.
In one call, the alleged pervert says, “I saw you leaving your apartment,” as he heads to the door with his boyfriend.
Burton, 44, also allegedly locked the woman’s car and repeatedly banged on the door of her Upper East Side apartment.
Prosecutors said she called police multiple times throughout the terrifying incident but Barton fled when police arrived.
When his girlfriend left for work in the morning, Barton allegedly cornered him in the street.
“Did you come out of her apartment? Are you guys having sex? I just want to talk to her,” Barton demanded during the horrifying encounter, which left his terrified ex-wife calling the police.

When police arrived, Barton allegedly ran from police, crawled under a car and was eventually handcuffed.
During his arrest, he blurted out to one of the officers, “How would he react if he saw his girlfriend with another man?” and admitted to having been “messing around” with his ex-girlfriend all night, according to prosecutors.
Burton, a Yonkers resident, was charged with aggravated harassment and ordered by a Manhattan judge to stay away from his ex-wife.
He had previously been the subject of an investigation into allegations of grade cheating. According to News 12 Long Island.
The department said Barton only returned to work at the school last month.
Since his arrest, Barton has been reassigned to working from home while the school district conducts an internal investigation, the media outlet reported.
Burton could not be reached for comment Wednesday night.
