Our women are… full of surprises.
An Ohio churchgoer said she caught a “miracle” from God on camera when the eyes of a Virgin Mary statue suddenly appeared to close.
Connie Liptak visited St. John Baptist Cathedral in Canton on Friday and said the statue of Our Lady of Fatima that was on display during a world tour had been closed and now reverently opened its eyes again. FOX 8 Cleveland.
“I’d been watching her all morning and I knew it was a miracle,” said Liptak, who photographed the moment. “Her eyes were really closed, which means you can really see her eyelashes drooping.”
Digital photographs capturing this phenomenon make the statue of Mary appear to have her eyelids closed and her mouth slightly open rather than in reality.
True believers have long attributed miracles, including healings and spiritual phenomena, to this same sculpture, the International Pilgrimage Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima.
“We know she cried 15 times,” statue manager Larry Maginot told the station.
But the Rev. David Missbrenner, pastor of the Ohio church, said he doesn’t think it was an act of God.
“I’m a little skeptical of that sort of thing, and the church is very cautious about that sort of thing,” Miss Brenner said. Canton Repository“You can do anything with a camera.”

But, he added, “If someone has benefited mentally or physically, then in my opinion it has played a role.”
The statue, which depicts the Mother of Jesus praying near a small village in Portugal, was commissioned in 1947. It has since traveled around the world and is on display in Catholic churches.
The image of Liptak apparently blinking has yet to be analyzed by digital photography experts.
