Kevin Durant beat Serbia, then stayed up all night getting into Twitter beef

If there was a gold medal for “extreme online meanness,” Kevin Durant would be the overall winner. KD has led an interesting life online, to say the least. He’s quick to hit back at anyone who offends him, never tolerates disparagement, and Durant has even gone so far as to create a burner to defend himself.

Durant’s Twitter fingers were a given after the U.S. needed a comeback to beat Serbia in the Olympic semifinals, which prompted Nuggets fans to brag about Nikola Jokic, much to KD’s annoyance.

Keep in mind that this post was made at 11:09pm ET, which means it was just after 5am in Paris. Durant was up after the game and decided to start a fight. He ended up going to bed, but as soon as he woke up the online altercation resumed.

It went on and on…

And here we go…

Essentially, Durant’s argument goes like this: There’s a heavy-handed narrative based heavily on marketing ploys that sell the idea of ”battles,” and fans believe that players across the league hate each other. Sure, there are players who don’t get along, but for the most part, there’s only mutual respect between NBA players.

Durant is furious that American fans are pushing Jokic over the US national team just because of their NBA loyalty and thinks it’s really stupid. The “Nikola vs. the world” narrative just disappears, especially since no one behind the scenes has any disdain for the Joker.

That’s fair, but KD should probably stop this and focus on medals.
