Sex-ed group mistakenly doles out ultrasound probe covers thinking they’re condoms

The Hodogs thought they had gotten a condom, but it was just a Trojan Horse.

An Australian sex education organization had been distributing what they thought were condoms for several months, but it turned out the packaging was actually “lubricated probe covers” for ultrasound machines.

A Canberra-based sexual health and family planning organisation said it had mistaken the medical devices for the Jimmys because of “similar packaging”, adding that they had been distributing them since January.

“If you receive something that looks like a condom [us] “Anyone who has used it in the past six months should not use it,” the group said in an apology this week, according to Australian reports. ABC News.

“Although these products have similar packaging and appearance to condoms, they do not provide the same level of protection against pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases.”

Critics pointed out that the group itself needed some sex education.

“If students are being told they’re going to be given sexual health products like condoms, it should be condoms,” said Leo Golding, a student at Dixon College where the counterfeit products were distributed.

The media report said the sex education organisation distributed the counterfeit condoms at at least five campuses – Dixon, Gungahlin College, Canberra College, Lake Ginninderra College and Melba Copland Secondary School.

Earlier this week, Dickson College’s principal sent a letter warning parents about the rubber fiasco.

The sexual health group said it was unclear how many packages it had distributed since January.
