Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Friday slammed former President Trump’s recent attacks on Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) as “indulgent and lazy,” suggesting that Trump may no longer be focused on the campaign.
“It’s pretty naive and lazy that Donald Trump’s best attack line has been, ‘He’s so involved in so many different worlds,'” Buttigieg said. He spoke on CNN “The Source” brought to you by anchor Kaitlan Collins.
in Press conference at Mar-a-Lago Trump said Thursday that Walz is “deeply involved in the transgender world, deeply involved in the different worlds that have to do with safety.”
“At times it feels like Trump just isn’t serious anymore, given the lack of consistency in his attacks, not to mention the lack of any coherent explanation of what he actually intends to do to make life better for the American people,” Buttigieg said.
Buttigieg was one of several names floated as Harris’ running mate before she ultimately chose Waltz, who ran alongside her in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary and both now serve in key roles in the Biden administration as vice president and transportation secretary.
Ms. Harris’ campaign has garnered a lot of enthusiasm and energy from Democrats, and she announced Mr. Walz as her running mate on Tuesday. She held several rallies last week to large crowds.
Asked if he was afraid of the size of Harris’ audience at the Mar-a-Lago news conference, Trump sounded annoyed.
“Come on, come on,” Trump said. “Look, there were 107,000 in New Jersey and you didn’t report it. I’m so glad you asked. Were there 2,000 yesterday?”
The vice president is currently neck and neck with the former president, with Trump at 47.4 percent and the vice president at 47.2 percent, according to the Hill/Decision Desk average of national polls.
