16,500 Cans of Baby Formula Recalled in 12 States

Approximately 16,500 cans of infant formula were voluntarily recalled. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that the drug is being sold at CVS and HEB stores in 12 states.

The FDA Posted a notice On August 8, Perrigo announced a recall of three lots of its premium infant formula, which uses a milk-based powder with iron. The lots contained excessive levels of vitamin D, which the FDA said was “unlikely to cause adverse health effects” for most infants if they consumed it for a short period of time, but “may cause health complications” in “physiologically vulnerable infants.”

The FDA notice continues, “To date, no adverse events have been reported attributable to elevated vitamin D levels in the recalled products discovered during routine testing.”

The HEB recalled product information is as follows:

Expiration date: November 11, 2025, November 9, 2025

The affected products were shipped to multiple HEB stores in Texas on February 2 and to CVS stores on February 6. The products were shipped to CVS stores in multiple states, including: Florida, California, South Carolina, Virginia, Indiana, Tennessee, New Jersey, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Missouri.

Perrigo has notified HEB Grocery Company and CVS, asking them to remove the products from their stores and warehouses.

The FDA advised parents and guardians who may have purchased the affected products to check the lot code and “use by” date on the bottom of the packaging and to contact their health care provider if they have any concerns.
