Trump has plans for a triumphant return to Butler — and his opening line will be a doozy

Their early 70 minutes of conversation On Monday, Elon Musk questioned President Donald Trump about the recent assassination attempt.

Trump said his survival may be of a metaphysical nature and revealed plans to return to the scene in Butler, Pennsylvania, where at least one person last month called for him to be killed.

Musk began his speech by explaining that Trump’s “emotional” response to the shooting was one of the reasons the Republican leader supported him before the July 13 riots died down.

“Instead of running from things, instead of ducking, he’s putting his fist in the air and saying ‘fight, fight, fight,'” the tech mogul said. “The president of the United States represents America, and that’s what America is. That’s strength under fire.”

Musk then reiterated, “You can’t fake courage in situations like this. Courage is either instinctual or it’s not. It’s not a practiced act.”

Trump’s actions have had an impact on tech giants and others who have faced criticism, but he stressed that the experience on the receiving end has “not been pleasant.”

“I didn’t think I’d bleed that much,” Trump said, “and the doctor told me later that the ear is a place that bleeds a lot, but in this case, I was hit at the right angle and it may have been the best option I could have had.”

Trump described the chain of events that saved him from almost certain doom as miraculous, saying he was glad he ducked first: “After I fell, the bullets came flying right over my head.”

“It’s a miracle.”

“The bigger miracle is that I looked in the exact direction of the shooter,” Trump continued, “and it’s all because I showed you a chart on immigration and I showed you the numbers are huge. I love that chart.”

“Illegal immigration saved my life,” Trump later joked, suggesting he might carry the chart to bed with him.

Musk suggested that maybe that’s a sign.

“It was amazing to me how I happened to turn at a perfect angle,” Trump said.

According to Trump, the likelihood of his last-minute wimping around to save lives was made even less likely by the fact that he barely relied on the illegal immigration charts.

“This is truly an act of God. It’s a miracle,” Trump said. “I’m honored.”

Despite the nature of his previous visit to Pennsylvania, Trump announced, “We’re going back to Butler. We’ll be back in October.”

The Republican presidential candidate told Musk how he would start if he were to return: “I think I’d probably start by saying I was severely interrupted.”

While Trump’s comments about his experience were relatively upbeat, he also highlighted the gravity of the shooting, noting that Corey Comperatore lost his life and others were seriously injured “who we didn’t think would survive.”

“The doctors in Butler District were absolutely amazing,” the president said. “They saved two lives, but they were both hit just as hard.”
