Audience The Late Show with Stephen Colbert When Stephen Colbert called CNN an “objective” news organization, CNN host Caitlin Collins asked, “Was that a joke?” to which Colbert responded, “No, it wasn’t.”
“I know you guys are objective and you report the news as it is,” Colbert told Collins, drawing immediate laughter from his audience.

A visibly surprised Collins asked, “Was that supposed to be a laugh line?” Colbert replied, “It wasn’t supposed to be, but I guess it is.”
Colbert sarcastically called CNN “objective” after the anchor made a scathing remark about former President Donald Trump, in which Colbert appeared to poke fun at his own personal opinion that the 45th president “struggled” with the way he attacked Vice President Kamala Harris on the campaign trail.
“Trump is pretty cornered by this, and he’s not really sure how to corner Vice President Harris,” Collins said of the Trump campaign after President Joe Biden was removed from the 2024 presidential race, which many see as a coup.
“He knew the script for his attack on President Biden, and he was really struggling with how to attack someone 20 years younger than him, a different gender and a different race,” the CNN anchor continued.
“Right now, he hasn’t been able to gel with a single offensive line,” Collins boasted.
