wins GOP primary battle for Walz’s former district

Incumbent Congressman Brad Finstad, He won the Republican primary for Minnesota’s 1st Congressional District, setting the stage for a race against Democrat Rachel Bowman.

Minnesota’s 1st District is “solidly” Republican, according to an analysis by the Cook Political Report.

Finstad, a first-term incumbent from the district, was fighting a tough battle in the Republican-dominated district to keep his seat and challenge Bowman.

Incumbent candidate Tweten faced a unique challenger: a licensed therapist who relied heavily on her professional experience in the campaign, even going so far as to run the slogan “Washington needs therapists.”

Minnesota business owner slams Walz’s coronavirus response and leadership on Black Lives Matter riots as ‘total failure’

According to a Post-Bulletin report, Tweten believes he can broker an agreement between the two parties, who often hurl insults and attacks at each other, and has promised to use the same techniques in Parliament that he uses in couples counselling.

Bowman, who will now face the incumbent Republican in the general election, was the only candidate in the district’s Democratic primary.

The district, which Minnesota Democratic Gov. Tim Walz represented from 2007 to 2019, has been held by a Republican for the five years since Walz, now the Democratic vice presidential nominee, left the House of Representatives to take up residence in the governor’s mansion.
