Speaker Nancy Pelosi again exerted her influence over the president by pressuring 81-year-old President Joe Biden to reconsider seeking reelection, despite initially arguing for the campaign to continue.
Pelosi’s wish was granted when Biden left office and Kamala Harris became the Democratic presidential nominee, something Biden made clear in a recent interview with CBS.
“Many of my Democratic colleagues in the House and Senate thought I would hurt them in the campaign and were concerned that if I continued on the campaign trail, I would be interviewed about that topic,” Biden said.
“‘Why did Nancy Pelosi say this, why did this happen?'” Biden said, playing the role of interviewer. “I thought that was really distracting.”
“He’s obviously angry at her and at everybody who pushed him out,” says Pat Gray of Pat Gray Unleashed. “He’s basically admitted that he was pushed out of his job, or pushed out of the campaign.”
Now, with the Minnesota governor campaigning for Kamala Harris, old footage from 2007 shows Pelosi giving high praise to a good old fashioned “Tampon Tim,” which may suggest she had some input into Harris’ selection.
“He mentored these people in high school and then he had to lead them in the military,” Pelosi said of Walz. “So he knows the potential of young people and the risks we take by sending them into dangerous places without giving them the equipment they need.”
“We want him to know how much we appreciate his service to our country, whether in the classroom or on the battlefield,” she added.
