Americans split on whether Trump, Harris favored to win in November: Survey

A new poll finds Americans are split evenly on whether former President Donald Trump or Vice President Harris is more likely to win the presidential election in November.

The poll found that a majority of voters believe their party’s leading candidate will win the presidential election in November: About 80% of Democrats said Harris would win, while 83% of Republicans said Trump would win.

Independents were about evenly split, with 33% saying Trump would win, 32% saying Harris would win and 35% saying they didn’t know.

The poll showed Ms. Harris leading Mr. Trump by two points among registered voters, with 46% saying they would support her, 44% backing Mr. Trump and 3% saying they would vote for independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

The poll also found that 53% of registered voters would consider voting for Harris, while 48% would consider voting for Trump. Fifty-two percent said they would not consider voting for Trump, while 47% said they would not consider voting for Harris.

Harris has been gaining momentum in national and battleground state polls since announcing her candidacy last month, and according to The Hill/Decision Desk national polling average, based on 115 polls, she leads Trump by 1.6 percentage points.

The new poll was conducted Aug. 11-13 among 1,567 U.S. adults and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.3 percentage points.
