Ibiza’s Environment Agency is reportedly investigating the possible destruction of sand dunes caused by pop star Katy Perry’s music video for her song “Lifetimes.”
Ibiza claims that Perry and her production team did not have the proper permits to shoot the pop star’s music video on the Spanish island, and that the “Last Friday Night” singer never applied for approval from the film studio. Report By TheWrap.
Ibiza’s Ministry of Agriculture and the local film agency said the incident was a criminal offence of environmental violation, but added that it was not a “crime against the environment” because “photojournalism and videography are permitted with the appropriate permits”.
“A preliminary investigation has been launched as at no point did the production company seek permission to film from the ministry,” the ministry added.
The music video sees Perry and friends partying amongst the dunes and cliffs along the coast of Ibiza and Formentera, ending with them dancing at a beachfront club.

Authorities in Ibiza are concerned that filming is taking place in an excluded area of the Espalmador dunes, TheWrap reported.
Part of the Ses Salines Natural Park, the roped-off dunes are said to be protected land of “great ecological value” to the islands.
Additionally, the island is uninhabited and only accessible by private boat, The Daily Beast reports. Reported.
The Ibiza government is currently investigating whether any damage occurred in the restricted areas of the dunes, the report added.
The investigation comes one month after Perry released the song “Woman’s World,” which was criticized by fans for what they saw as an “awkward imitation of a feminist song,” according to The Daily Beast.
“Perry returned with a new song that was met with swift and scathing backlash on social media, reminding everyone why they stopped listening in the first place,” the outlet reported. Reported In July.
According to the Daily Beast, the song’s lyrics and beat are “so devastatingly simplified” that the song itself may be “just plain bad.”
