There are end-of-life complainers in New Jersey.
According to the report, Newark Liberty International Airport is the airport in the nation with the most complaints about the Transportation Security Administration.
Among the 44 major U.S. airports, Newark will lead the way by a wide margin between 2015 and 2023, according to TSA data. Analysis by Upgrade PointsTravel and financial advice company.
Garden State airports received 12.84 complaints per 100,000 passengers in 2023, the highest number of complaints among major airports and above the national average of 3.92 complaints per 100,000 passengers.
Following Newark, Cleveland Hopkins International Airport will see 10.35 complaints per 100,000 people, Palm Beach International Airport will see 8.98 and Southwest Florida International Airport will see 8.92 in 2023.
New York’s other two major airports, JFK International Airport and LaGuardia Airport, also topped the list, coming in at 6th and 10th place, respectively.
Newark had the third-most delays in the country in fiscal year 2023 with more than 13,000 delays, behind Las Vegas and LaGuardia airports. According to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Newark Liberty Airport also had the third-highest number of cancellations during the same period.
“Airports with a high number of complaints to the TSA are likely to experience longer delays,” the UpgradePoint study said.
“Knowing airport screening procedures will help you plan your trip more effectively and avoid panicking when you arrive.”
Meanwhile, Charlotte Douglas International Airport, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and Dallas Love Field had the fewest complaints, the report found.
Last year, there were 3.47, 4.22 and 4.3 complaints reported per 100,000 passengers, respectively.
As expected, the data shows that complaints are lowest in January and then gradually increase throughout the year, peaking in December at an average of 1,457 complaints per day, coinciding with the busy travel season.
“Increasing passenger numbers will exacerbate an already stressful situation and will almost certainly lead to bad experiences and more complaints,” the study found.
The most common complaints, accounting for more than 40 percent of all complaints at airports nationwide, were about the TSA’s rapid passenger screening program, known as TSA PreCheck.
The next most common complaints were about improper handling of passengers’ belongings and customer service issues.
