A Democratic political action committee (PAC) has launched a $2 million campaign in key House battlegrounds, sounding the alarm about Project 2025, a conservative blueprint for the next Republican president.
Save Democracy PAC Support the Democratic Party Former Vice President Joe Biden, the Democratic nominee who has won dozens of congressional races, will launch cable television and digital ads in eight key districts across the country as part of his “Stop Project 2025” effort, he said in a release first obtained by The Hill.
“Despite overwhelming public opposition, House Republicans have already embraced these policies and are refusing to stand up to Trump and his extreme policies in the final three months until Election Day,” the statement said.
Save Democracy PAC’s first funding districts include California’s 13th District, where Democrat Adam Gray is challenging Republican Rep. John Duarte (first-time elected), and Washington’s 3rd District, where Democratic Rep. Marie Grusenkamp Perez (first-time elected) is headed for a rematch against a Trump-backed challenger.
The move to bring the Heritage Foundation-led Project 2025 into the spotlight in key House races comes as Democrats step up their attacks on the proposal, a set of right-wing policies and initiatives that conservatives hope former President Trump will introduce in the White House this fall but that he has distanced himself from.
The proposal includes rolling back access to abortion, revoking federal approval of the abortion drug mifepristone and making cuts to the budgets of the Departments of Education and Commerce, among other efforts.
Vice President Harris and her new running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, have denounced the plan while campaigning for her November runoff against President Trump. Republicans have downplayed the impact of Project 2025, while Democrats have seen it as a way to create a sense of urgency among voters heading into the fall.
Save Democracy PAC’s ads, along with direct mail, will also reach Republican candidates challenging Democratic Reps. Steven Horsford of Nevada, Emilia Sykes of Ohio and Andrea Salinas of Oregon. Other ads will run in California’s 22nd Congressional District, Michigan’s 8th Congressional District and New York’s 17th Congressional District, according to the announcement. These races are among the most competitive this season as both parties fight for control of the House of Representatives.
